About the event
This workshop provides an evidence-informed overview of impulsivity and self-control in ADHD, focusing on why actions, reactions, or decisions can occur quickly and without the pause people expect from themselves. It is designed to support understanding of these patterns without framing them as carelessness, immaturity, or lack of responsibility.
Date: 19th September 2026
Time: 13.30
Venue: Online via Zoom
In this live workshop, impulsivity in ADHD is explored as a difference in inhibition and regulation rather than a failure of willpower or judgement. The session examines why urges, reactions, or decisions can feel immediate and difficult to interrupt, particularly under stress, emotional load, or time pressure.
Rather than focusing on behaviour change or impulse control techniques, the workshop looks at how impulsivity operates within ADHD and why attempts to “pause” or “think first” often fail in the moment.
