Couples Therapy for relationships affected by ADHD.
ADHD-informed therapy for couples who want to understand patterns, improve communication, and work better together.

How Couples Therapy Works Here
Couples therapy at ADHD Horizon is psychology-led, ADHD-informed, and focused on how ADHD-related difficulties may be affecting the relationship.

It is not offered as general couples counselling. The work is structured around understanding the patterns developing between partners, making sense of how ADHD may be contributing, and helping couples move towards clearer, more workable ways of relating.
The emphasis is on improving shared understanding, communication, emotional regulation within the relationship, and practical ways of responding to recurring difficulties in day-to-day life.
Where relevant, the work can also take into account how additional factors, such as autistic traits, anxiety, low mood, burnout, trauma-related difficulties, or emotional dysregulation may be interacting with ADHD and affecting the relationship.
What Couples Therapy Can Help With
Couples therapy can help with areas such as:
-
understanding how ADHD may be affecting the relationship
-
making sense of recurring conflict cycles, misunderstandings, or disconnection
-
improving communication and emotional regulation within the relationship
-
working through shared routines, responsibilities, and day-to-day strain

-
reducing blame, resentment, or repeated escalation
-
rebuilding connection, understanding, and a greater sense of working together
-
developing more collaborative and workable ways of responding as a couple
Why Choose Couples Therapy?
For some couples, difficulties become established in the pattern between partners, rather than sitting with one person alone. Couples therapy may be particularly helpful if you are looking for:

-
an ADHD-informed way of understanding relationship patterns
-
a shared space to talk things through in a structured and clinically contained way
-
support with communication, conflict, repair, and connection
-
help developing routines, agreements, and responses that fit the realities of ADHD
This pathway is designed for couples where joint work is likely to be the most helpful and appropriate format.
Who This May Suit
Couples therapy may be appropriate if you are:
-
finding that ADHD or ADHD-related difficulties are having a meaningful impact on the relationship

-
wanting support with recurring patterns such as conflict, misunderstanding, disconnection, or uneven day-to-day functioning
-
both willing to engage in a structured, joint therapeutic process
Both partners must be adults and able to participate freely, safely, and voluntarily in online joint sessions. Couples therapy is not automatically suitable for all couples in distress, and may not be the right format where safety, coercion, intimidation, domestic abuse, or other factors make joint work unsuitable.
